Comfort, grip and wool

From the Larzac to the workshop: local, transparent, reliable

Made from wool selected with care on the Roquefort PDO area, this mat gives value back to a local natural material that is too often forgotten. Every fibre is sorted, washed and then felted using precise craft that respects its integrity. Production favours responsible processes, keeping transformation to a minimum so the wool keeps its intrinsic qualities. An honest product, made with local partners, that helps revive the French wool industry.

In offering you this mat, we wanted full consistency between the values of yoga and the tools we use to practise it.

Easy to live with: use and care without the fuss

Unroll, practise, roll up: it is made to follow your sessions. Wool has a superpower: it loves to breathe and is self-cleaning. After use, let the mat air out to release moisture and clear any smell. For dust, run the vacuum over it. For small marks, use a lightly soapy sponge, then let it air-dry. Skip the washing machine.

Ethics with substance (and common sense)

It starts with a slightly mad fact: 90% of French wool is still thrown away for want of a market. Here it becomes a mat that is useful, long-lasting and local. A renewable material (no petrochemicals), French production, rooted in the Larzac and the Roquefort PDO area: fewer materials crossing the planet, more coherence under your hands. Buying this mat means choosing rare comfort — and a strong story. By adding value to local wool and committed craft, it supports an economy that treats the living world with more respect.

For every mat sold, we give €2 to projects supporting the revival of the French wool industry.

Your questions, our answers

What are your mats made of?

Made from Larzac wool, sourced from Lacaune sheep farms in the Roquefort AOP region. It is a byproduct of dairy production: shearing is necessary for the animals' well-being, so the fiber exists regardless. It is felted at the Filature Colbert in Camarès, then crafted in our Saint-Affrique workshop. No dyes or chemical treatments added.

How do I clean my wool mat?

Like a wool sweater, wool cleans itself when left to air out. In general, air out your mat as often as possible to let the wool breathe. Regular cleaning extends the life of the mat. Vacuum whenever necessary to remove dust.

Why choose wool over a synthetic mat?

For three measurable reasons. Wool absorbs up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp, compared to less than 1% for most synthetic fibers, so it stays comfortable even during intense sessions. Its keratin naturally limits the growth of odor-causing bacteria without chemical treatments. Finally, it contains no phthalates, which ANSES classifies as endocrine disruptors and which are found in PVC mats. At the end of its life, it is 95% biodegradable within fifteen weeks.

Can the wool mat help relieve joint pain?

Yes, a thick mat cushions and relieves the joints. With 8 mm of dense wool, the mat provides real support for knees and elbows. Larzac wool from Lacaune sheep is known for its resilient qualities, particularly in bedding.

Can the wool mat be recycled?

Wool is a natural, biodegradable material: at the end of its life, it can be composted or reused, for example as garden mulch. While the thin non-slip polymer layer on our yoga mats is not compostable, our meditation and play mats are 100% wool.
