According to a 2023 report by the CGAAER (the French ministerial council on food and agriculture), French wool faces twin pressure from synthetic materials and low-cost countries. The French wool sector must therefore rebuild itself, and new outlets must be found to give it value. That's the starting point of our business!
We designed the mat with a layer of latex so it is non-slip on both sides. It grips the floor. On the practice side, it gives you a solid anchor to flow through your gentle and dynamic yoga postures safely. The wool brings a cocooning feel, and its scent helps you switch off.
No — almost all of our customers said it does not scratch. The thin layer of latex used to make it non-slip also reduces friction with the wool, while leaving the feel and the scent of the wool almost untouched.
Like a wool jumper, wool cleans itself when you let it air out. As a rule, air out the mat as often as you can so the wool can breathe. Regular care extends its lifespan. Vacuum whenever needed to remove dust.
PVC mats are durable and grip well, but they are neither biodegradable nor eco-friendly. Natural rubber mats are biodegradable and non-slip, but they come from the other side of the world (South-East Asia, South America). Our wool mat is made from a natural, renewable, French material. We only use a thin layer of latex to make it non-slip.
For your yoga practice
Questions about how the mat fits your practice? Find them here.
A yoga mat is a non-slip surface made for practising yoga, to keep you from slipping during postures. It offers support, comfort and grip, and protects you from hard, cold floors. We've designed our wool mat with all of these qualities, so your practice feels safe and comfortable.

A yoga mat provides cushioning for your joints. At 5 mm, our wool mat offers especially joint-friendly comfort. The thin layer of latex ensures solid grip throughout your postures. A yoga mat also creates a clean, calming space for your practice, which helps you focus. The scent of the wool mat reinforces that sense of a safe space.
A yoga mat is thinner and non-slip — designed for stability in yoga postures. Fitness mats are thicker and offer more cushioning. The wool mat strikes the right balance, giving you joint comfort and stability in your postures.

Materials and durability
But finally, why wool?
No — almost all of our customers said it does not scratch. The thin layer of latex used to make it non-slip also reduces friction with the wool, while leaving the feel and the scent of the wool almost untouched.
There are mats made of PVC, natural rubber, cork or TPE. But beware: even when brands present them as sustainable and ecological, most of these materials come from the other side of the world (South-East Asia or South America). That's why our Larzac wool is a genuinely responsible choice.

Eco-friendly mats can be just as durable as conventional ones. Lifespan depends on use and care. Our wool mat contains no chemicals. The entire production happens in France, regionally, with a network of companies committed to the social and solidarity economy.
Choosing a natural material is the first piece of the puzzle. To limit the mat's carbon footprint, we made our wool mat exclusively from French wool, sourced from the Larzac plateau and the AOP Roquefort sheep farms. We also keep our packaging to the bare minimum.
Care and cleaning
How to take care of your wool mat?
Like a wool jumper, wool cleans itself when you let it air out. As a rule, air out the mat as often as you can so the wool can breathe. Regular care extends its lifespan. Vacuum whenever needed to remove dust. Regular care also prevents bacteria and dirt from building up.
Store it in a dry and cool place away from direct sunlight. Avoid folding it to prevent marks and creases. In case of extended storage, use a mat bag to protect it from dust and dirt. Make sure the mat is dry before putting it away.
No, the wool mat cannot go in the washing machine. Wool is what we call self-cleaning. The best thing to do is air it out regularly. Wool fibre does not hold on to odours and does not trap dust. It is also a hypoallergenic material.
Wool does not hold on to odours. To care for the mat, simply air it out regularly — it helps the material breathe and keeps your mat in great shape.
We don't recommend it, because the wool experience — both its touch and its scent — is part of what makes the wool mat special. That said, if you practise outdoors, we suggest placing a towel under the mat to protect the wool, especially on dirty surfaces.
Health and comfort
And the characteristics of the mat?
A thick yoga mat can cushion and ease your joints. Without compromising the stability you need in your practice, our wool mat is designed to support your knees and elbows. Larzac wool — from Lacaune sheep — has a particular springiness that is well recognised in the bedding industry.
The quality of the mat matters when relieving postures that put strain on the back. Larzac wool is particularly well suited for this. Some yoga poses can help strengthen and ease the back. If you are in pain, consult a healthcare professional before starting.
For gentle yoga, a thicker, softer mat is ideal. It offers more comfort during longer holds. Our wool mat gives you that extra support and feels soft on the skin.
It depends on your specific allergies, of course! But wool is known to be a hypoallergenic material, so in principle there is no allergic risk linked to the wool itself.
That said, we use a thin layer of latex to make the mat non-slip, so do check that you are not allergic to latex.
The mat is unisex. Because of our production constraints, we currently offer a single size: 190 × 61 cm.
